Hawaii state Rep. Chris Lee is back with another video showcasing “a more detailed plan for curtailing ‘predatory gaming practices,’ and explained how people opposed to loot box mechanics can help make it happen,” PC Gamer’s Andy Chalk writes. “The video lays out the basics of what Lee has in mind, which includes prohibiting the sale of videogames containing ‘gambling mechanisms’ to anyone under the age of 21.”
Glixel’s Brian Crecente reports that “EA CFO Blake Jorgensen noted that microtransactions may not return to the game when asked about how the company is dealing with the backlash … ‘Overtime we’ll address how we will want to bring the MTX either into the game or not and what form we will decide to bring it into.’”
EA officially owns Respawn. “A filing with the Securities & Exchange commission dated December 4 confirms that the deal was completed on December 1,” GameSpot’s Eddie Makuch writes.
Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin told GamesIndustry.biz’s James Batchelor “‘There’s a glimmer of hope there’” when it comes to fighting toxicity on Twitch. “Lin says the Twitch team is also constantly working hard on finding new ways to help streamers tackle any abuse in their channel.”
Jingle Jam 2017 has already raised $3 million with “25 days to go,” Green Man Gaming’s Olly reports.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ desert map is to be called Miramar.
Capcom teased more information on Street Fighter V’s upcoming Arcade Edition due Jan. 16. It “allows players to fight against a set amount of enemies in a series of stages, with the goal being to beat the boss at the end,” Dot Esports’ Adam Newell reports. “Players will choose one of six different paths.”
Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is garnering more and more Twitch viewers, Gamasutra’s Alissa McAloon reports. “Within the past eight weeks alone, the game has risen four cumulative ranks and surpassed 5 million hours viewed [on Twitch].”
