The Counter-Strike:Global Offensive ESL One Rio 2020 Major has been postponed. The major was scheduled to take place in May, and has been pushed back to November. The prize pool for the November major will now include the combined prize pools for a total of $2 million. ESL’s full statement can be found here.
Remember last week when we told you that Stam had crossed 20 million active users? Throw that out the window. Yesterday the platform hit 22 million active users. Frankly, there are no signs of the number slowing down. As long as large parts of the world are on lockdown you can expect to see this number continue to rise. All it took was the CEO, George Sherman, writing a letter to employees to save GameStop’s image. GameStop will indeed close its stores. What’s more is that the company will also be giving additional PTO to those employees who are eligible for it, and two weeks of pay to those who aren’t. In the letter, Sherman assured employees that their standing at the company would not be impacted if they decided they did not feel comfortable going to work. Jason Schreier at Kotaku has more.
NBA star DeMarcus Cousins has signed with NRG. The four-time NBA All-Star is currently rehabilitating from an ACL tear. In the announcement video there were no specifics as to what the partnership between Boogie and NRG might mean. He could simply act as a brand ambassador, or he could be making content with the organization. Guess we’ll find out soon.
