All of Valve’s Half-Life writers have left the company, Aaron Souppouris at Engadget reports. Marc Laidlaw left last year, followed by Erik Wolpaw in February of this year and finally Chet Faliszek, who just left. “Faliszek and Wolpaw worked on basically every Valve game with a story during their tenure. They wrote Portal together, penned its sequel along with humorist Jay Pinkerton and also put together the narrative for the Left 4 Dead series,” Souppouris writes.
Minecraft wants to teach kids how to code, Venture Beat’s Harrison Weber says. Code Builder, which Microsoft announced Tuesday, “lets Minecraft players build structures inside the game with JavaScript.”
There’s a new game studio in town. Fall Damage, a Swedish company, has just seven employees. “Backing the studio are four former DICE employees with the help of Goodbye Kansas Game Invest and the previous Swedish Games Industry CEO,” TechRaptor’s Alexandria Taberski says. “While the brand new indie game studio only has seven people on board currently they are looking to double their roster by the end of the year. They are currently looking for a game programmer with experience in UX development and an FX artist that likes 3D modeling. Their first project will be built in Unity.”
