You get a DMCA takedown! And YOU get a DMCA takedown! Everybody gets a DMCA takedown! This past weekend there was a significant spike in DMCA claims on Twitch. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act has long been at the heart of channel bans on Twitch. It most often occurs when streamers play music that they don’t have licenses to use. Why all of the sudden so many? Well, there doesn’t seem to be a solid reason. The EA Play event that was scheduled to take place this Thursday (6/11) has been rescheduled for the following Thursday (6/18). This is another in a good sized list of events that were supposed to take place either last or this week that have been pushed back due to the global protests calling for the end of systematic racism and police brutality.
Games Done Quick has announced that Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) will be cancelling the live portion of its event and will move to an entirely online format. The event will be broadcast live from their studio, and runners and other participants will join in from their own homes. It will still take place during the scheduled week of August 16th-23rd and benefit Doctors WIthout Borders. You can find all the other information you need regarding the event on their website.
