We didn’t know where week one of the Call of Duty League would broadcast until about three hours or so before the event started. Activision Blizzard and Google announced they have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership. The part that relates to esports is that YouTube Gaming is now the home of all Activision Blizzard esports. This includes CDL, The Overwatch League and Hearthstone Grandmasters. There’s a lot going on with the partnership — if you want to know everything, make sure to check out the press release.
The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) has postponed week two of competition indefinitely due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. The virus’ recent outbreak in China has caused public transportation stoppages and quarantines on cities.
Speaking of the coronavirus, the virus’ infamy has caused a spike in sales of Plague Inc. The popular game about pandemics has been being used by some to see what the spread of the virus could be like. The developer has come out and said that this should not be done. You can read their full statement here.
“However, please remember that Plague Inc. is a game, not a scientific model and that the current coronavirus outbreak is a very real situation which is impacting a huge number of people. We would always recommend that players get their information directly from local and global health authorities.”
