October sales numbers are in, courtesy of the NPD group. “Spending on video games was up 73% year-over-year to $1.5 billion … Overall hardware spending [was] up 26% year-over-year to $300 million … Accessory and game card spending grew 54 percent year-over-year to $280 million … Year-to-date sales are up 16 percent year-over-year to $4.8 billion.,” GI.biz’s Rebekah Valentine reports.
Sony and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 took the top spots for consoles and games, respectively. While PS4 beat out the Xbox One X and Switch, the Xbox One X did see sales increases.
Black Ops 4 came in 1st for October sales followed by Red Dead Redemption II, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and NBA 2K19.
