PlayStation had a very busy day yesterday. First off, it was officially announced that PlayStation will be returning to the world of VR. The “next generation” VR system will enhance everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input. It will connect to PS5 with a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use, while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience. Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, spoke with GQ’s Robert Leedham about the unveiling of the next PSVR, but that is not all they spoke about. Some other tidbits coming out of the interview are more previously PlayStation exclusive games coming to the PC, and some updates on PS5 production.
But wait, there’s more! PlayStation also announced a State of Play scheduled for tomorrow at 5 pm ET. The State of Play broadcast will serve up new updates and deep dives for 10 games coming to PS4 and PS5, including new game announcements and updates on some of the third-party and indie titles we last saw in June’s PS5 showcase. The show is set to clock in at about 30 minutes. Announcement can be found here.
The Daily Walkthrough would like to offer our condolences to the friends, family and loved ones of Ingrid Oliveira Bueno da Silva, known as “Sol.” The Brazilian Call of Duty Mobile professional was murdered by another player by the name of Guilherme Alves Costa or “Flashlight”. Local authorities have determined this to be a pre-meditated murder after discovering a book in which Flashlight wrote down the reasons he would do it. Costa also recorded a video confessing his crime, then sharing it with a group of players. RIP.
