The Game Developers Conference was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The decision was made after many big name companies announced that they would not be attending the show. But, what about the little guys? While it’s a bummer for the stars of the industry to not get to tout their stuff at GDC, small indie developers are the ones that get affected most. Nicole Carpenter with Polygon has the full story.
On the other hand, the next big conference is “full steam ahead.” An Entertainment Software Association (ESA) rep said that E3 is moving forward as scheduled…for now. The ESA also stated that they are monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus carefully. Fraser Brown from PC Gamer has more.
On the OTHER, other hand Riot Games is cancelling the event that was scheduled for next week revolving around Valorant. Rod Breslau obtained the email that was sent out to those who were supposed to attend. The in-person event, to show off the newly announced title, was going to produce a lot of content and promotional videos for the game. Eager gamers will have to wait just a bit longer for more information.
