MSI has been officially cancelled. In an announcement from John Needham, Global Head of League of Legends Esports, Riot made the long rumored decision official. In the wake of the cancelled tournament, Riot does say they are attempting to make “alternative events and activities.” The cancelling of MSI will also have a domino effect on the World Championship later this year. Fortnite’s first round of Travis Scott’s Astronomical concerts performed very well both within the game and in stream viewership. Over 12.3 million concurrent players participated in the live show, according to the Fortnite Twitter account. Another 3 million or so were watching on streams. Bringing the total participation numbers to roughly 15 million people. Showings for the in-game concert continue today and tomorrow.
