The LCK announced that it will be transitioning into a franchised league beginning with the 2021 season. Riot has put out an entire website devoted to the subject. The LCK is the last of the major regions to switch from a relegation model to a franchise model. As was the case in every other region, there are positives and negatives to both, and it has the community somewhat split on their feelings.
IGN has announced their “Summer of Gaming” event. The Summer of Gaming event will be a global, digital event set to begin this June. It will bring you the latest news and impressions around upcoming games and the next generation of console hardware. Essentially, this is the de facto replacement for this year’s cancelled E3. IGN also announced a slew of partners that will be participating in the event including: 2K, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, THQ Nordic, and more.
Another week, another record for concurrent traffic for Steam. The number has now climbed to 24 million concurrent active users, reports Cale Michael at Dot Esports. Another interesting thing to consider is that we continue to track and report numbers from Steam, but they aren’t the only platform experiencing growth. There are other game launchers on PC, not to mention Xbox Live and PSN. Game traffic amidst this pandemic is certainly unprecedented.
