Market research firm, NewZoo has published its latest Global Games Market Report. The company projects that the world’s 2.7 billion gamers will spend $159.3 billion on games in 2020.  That number is projected to reach over $200 billion by 2023. The article, discussing the report, also goes into the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the various parts of the game industry.

With everyone stuck at home, you would think that TV ad spends for the month of April would be sky high. You would be wrong. Although Nintendo and Playstation lead the way, overall spending was down. Nintendo usually leads the pack of the major game companies for TV ad spend, but they slashed their budget from $14.6 million in March to $6.5 million in April. PlayStation, who had taken a back seat in TV ad spend for a few months, came roaring back to a close second place by spending $5.5 million in April.
