The time is finally arriving. Sony has unveiled that a PS5 event will take place this Thursday (6/4) at 4 pm ET. In a blog post, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said “That’s why I’m excited to share that we will soon give you a first look at the games you’ll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday.” The roughly hour long digital showcase will be centered around the games we’ll see at or near the launch of the PS5.
The Esports Awards have announced new additions to the show. There will be multiple new awards given out for a few fresh new categories. Just to name a few, we have: Esports mobile game of the year, Esports collegiate award and Esports content team of the year. In total there will be eight new awards. There have been reports that the gaming and esports industries are staving off the economic recession associated with the global pandemic. Mark Hall at Forbes tells us why that might not be the case, specifically when it comes to the job market. “new job listings declined approximately 15 percent from April to May, with a previous decline of more than one percent from March to April.”
