Weekend in review:

Composer Russell Brower is no longer with Blizzard. PC Gamer’s Andy Chalk reports that Brower — who has composed for games like World of Warcraft, Overwatch, StarCraft 2, Diablo 3 and Hearthstone — was laid off. Brower posted on Facebook, saying in part: “With the success of a ‘sound de-centralization’ initiative, my current position of overall Sr. Audio Director/Composer is no longer relevant and is being eliminated.”

Halo may yet get a live-action TV series. Microsoft confirmed to AR12Gaming “that its live-action Halo Television Series remains in active development, despite all the setbacks it has faced over the years and the lack of communication about the project.” The show was first announced in 2013. This is the statement AR12Gaming received from Microsoft:

“‘Progress on the Halo Television Series continues,’ a Microsoft Spokesperson and representative of 343 Industries confirmed to AR12Gaming. ‘We want to ensure we’re doing this the right way together with a team of creative partners (Steven Spielberg and Showtime) that can help us build the best Halo series that fans expect and deserve. We have no further details to share at this time.'”
