Today’s featured news is Microsoft’s greatest hits. First up is a report from Tom Phillips at Eurogamer that Microsoft is planning a reveal event for their second next gen console in August. Codenamed Lockhart and rumored to be called the Xbox Series S, the console was originally supposed to be unveiled during June. Seeing as how today is July 1st, we’re going to go with not so much. The event was reportedly pushed to August. Why not July you ask…
July is going to be all about the games. The Xbox first party showcase for games that will be featured on the Xbox Series X (and Xbox Series S) will reportedly take place on July 23rd. The event will focus primarily on games coming from Xbox Game Studios, or first party Microsoft devs. It is also confirmed that 3rd party titles will be shown off as part of the event. Most notably we’ll get our first real look at Halo Infinite. Andy Robinson at Video Games Chronicle has the full story.
Among all of this excitement for Xbox, they have also lost a valued member of their team. Dan McCulloch, a 15-year Microsoft veteran who most recently worked at Xbox as the leader of Xbox Live, has left the company. He made his announcement on Twitter. During his time at Microsoft, he also worked on the Kinect and Hololens teams.
